The establishment of the fundamentals of an ICAM system must take into account all information available. Studies and technical reports created by public bodies and not-for-profit scientific and cultural associations are indispensable to be able to undertake any integral study of the Balearic coastline. Currently, the possibility of accessing data from public institutions often constitutes and obstacle that is difficult to overcome in the course of any research project. That is why the concentration of all existing information in IMEDEA and its subsequent digitalisation and public availability via web pages and cartographical interfaces is a main task for any activity relating to the management of the coast. |
