The I+D+i GIZC projects

How is the I+D+i GIZC project's the structure?

This initiative comprises more than thirty-five research projects and more than fifty researchers from various discipline, something that makes UGIZC the most important interdisciplinary research project for Balearic society.

The I+D+i GIZC project is developing following four main axes: three vertical axes ((1) Disciplinary research, (2) Multidisciplinary research, and (3) Directed research and technological development) and a fourth horizontal axis focusing on knowledge transfer (in a bi-directional sense, from experts to society and society to researchers) as well as dissemination of the principles of sustainability and ICZM.

This structure responds to the need to support and enable quality research and further knowledge in specific disciplines and in subject areas that respond to basic international scientific priorities in the implementation of ICAM (axis 1).

-The activities in the framework of axis (1) of the I+D+i GIZC have been divided into three main subject areas following international standards: the environment, society-economy-culture, and law-administration-government.

-At the same time multidisciplinary research is supported (axis 2), which is based in the knowledge gained in axis 1 (disciplinary investigation) and needs global, horizontal and multidisciplinary approaches.

-Finally, this multidisciplinary research (axis 2) drives directed research (axis 3) to respond, through technological innovation, to the needs detected from current management systems, developing new scientific and technological tools supporting decision-making.

-Knowledge-transfer activities (both from and to society) and dissemination (axis 4) constitute an essential priority for UGIZC, crossing over the three aforementioned principal axes.
