The plurality of characteristics regarding the morphology, hydrodynamics and genesis of material making up beaches in the Balearic Islands make it difficult to create an adequate inventory of the types of beaches along the coastline of the Balearic Islands. Nevertheless, an inventory of these characteristics is vital for the businesses and public institutions responsible to equip them properly; these bodies could use this inventory to improve their services to people who use such resources in their free time.
